How do you play Quoridor?

Quoridor is played on a 9x9 grid. Each player has a pawn and 10 walls. On your turn, either move your pawn one square (you can jump over an adjacent opponent) OR place a wall between two squares. First pawn to reach the opponent's home row wins. Walls cannot fully enclose a player.

What are the Quoridor wall rules?

Walls span 2 cells and can be placed horizontally or vertically between squares. They cannot overlap existing walls and must never fully enclose either player - a path to each goal row must always remain. Each player has 10 walls total.

Can I play Quoridor against the computer?

Yes! This Quoridor game features an AI opponent with three difficulty levels: Easy (greedy path-shortening), Medium (minimax depth-2), and Hard (minimax depth-3 with strategic wall clusters).

Is Quoridor a solved game?

Quoridor is not fully solved due to its branching factor of ~140 moves per turn. It was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres in 1997 and remains a popular abstract strategy game. The first player has a slight theoretical advantage.
